Hello

I picked-up your website whilst I was Googling for an image of William Keasberry, the actor manager of Bath Theatre Royal in the 18th Century. Having read your write-up, I thought you might like to know that most of the theatre is still intact, even the 1775 stage. If you would like to give me an e-mail address, I will send some photos and links for you.

The reason I am able to tell you this is that our Trust owns the building in Old Orchard Street, Bath, that was the original Bath Theatre Royal from 1750 to 1805. As with all buildings of such an age, maintenance costs are a continual burden, which is why, in 2008, the trustees implemented a five-year plan to attract additional external revenue. The first part of that plan has been put in place with the assistance of the various tourism departments in Bath, and we are now in final preparations for opening the building to the public for guided tours later this year. We have also put together a small museum in the vaults reflecting the entire 250 year history of the building. I chair the sub-committee that is responsible for co-ordinating the assembly of the material needed for the preparation of the guidebook, website and publicity leaflets, plus the museum displays and associated souvenir shop.

We have completed a substantial amount of research over the past year or so, and have prepared the text for the guidebook, which will be published as a full-colour, coffee-table style softback book, of approximately 80 pages, containing around 18,000 words and 150 graphics, including current photos and historical images. I am currently finalising the selection of historical illustrations for the guide book, and as Mr Keasberry is a key figure in one of the chapters, I would really like to include an image of him. Do you own the image that you have on your site, if so could we have permission to reproduce it? If not, could you advise who is the copyright owner so that we could contact them.

After the guidebook, we will be compiling a website, and will also include details of Mr Keasberry on there. We will be more than happy to acknowledge your assistance, and include a link to your site to assist anybody coming across his entry on our site, to find yours.

Best Regards

Malcolm Toogood
